Bambach to Team with Swinburne on Industry 4.0

Bambach Wire and Cables Pty Ltd  has teamed up with Swinburne University  of Technology,  to apply for an IMRC program grant to develop a Virtual manufacturing System (VMS) for its new cable plant located in Rosedale Victoria. The VMS will apply Industry 4.0 principles to improve the current manufacturing system.

Swinburne University was recommended to Bambach by IMRC after Bambach submitted an expression of interest (EOI)  to IMRC in adopting Industry 4.0 methodology for its manufacturing processes. Following initial discussions, a Swinburne team led by Dr Ambarish Kulkarni, Senior Lecturer in Computer Aided Design visited Bambach’s Sydney factory and  met with Bambach Production and Quality Managers to chart  a plan for an application  for the Bamabch VMS project to be included under the IMRC development program.

Kevin Nielsen, Bambach’s quality manager will lead the implementation of the industry 4.0 programme.

Whilst it will take 18-24 months to plan and fully implement a VMS for Bambach,  many benefits from such a system will be realised along the way as the system is developed.

Dulhunty Poles Forging Ahead

After developing substantial and ongoing export markets Dulhunty Poles is continuing to make progress within Australia.

The company supplies a range of Titan poles from 9.5m to 21.5m for electricity distribution to Ausgrid in NSW, Ausnet in Victoria and TasNetworks in Tasmania. Private contractors in all 3 states install the company’s poles in sizes from 7.2m to 18.8m.

Special heavy duty poles for mounting transformers and other expensive equipment are specified by utilities to take advantage of the long life possible with the Titan pole.

Dulhunty Poles Forging Ahead

The introduction of the NBN to Melbourne suburbs requires installation of new taller poles and the Titan is being used to meet this demand.

The fireproof nature of the Titan pole was recognised at a recent Wildfire Summit in Sacramento, California and discussions are underway with PG&E, the largest electricity distributor in California.

Slowly but surely the Titan brand by Dulhunty Poles is becoming recognised as not only a novel and innovative solution to overhead electric power distribution but also as the pole of choice for more difficult or more important installations.
